‘Witness’ to compete at Short Shorts filmfest

Iranian short flick ‘Witness’ has made its way to the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia in Japan.

Directed by Ali Asgari, the 15-minute film will represent Iran together with a few Iranian films at the 2021 edition of the event.

“With her daughter waiting impatiently in the car, a mother helps an elderly woman in a shopping mall in Tehran. A tragedy occurs, brutally confronting her with the impact of her actions”, a brief synopsis of ‘Witness’ reads.

The script of the short flick has been put together by Asgari and Farnoush Samadi.

Asgari as an internationally-recognized cineaste has already been a jury member at some global events such as the Tirana International Film Festival in Albania.

The Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia has been accredited by the Academy Awards and is one of the largest international short film festivals in Asia, according to the website of the event.

The annual gala takes place in June. It has been running since 1999.
